Roses In Your Routine

February is the month to celebrate love, and whether you’re a free bird or happily coupled up, it’s a lovely reminder to pamper yourself during the cold, grey time of year when you could probably really use the TLC.

Roses are a February classic, but they can be so much more than a bouquet. Rose essential oil and rose absolute (often the more affordable option) have been loved for ages, and they’re still a go-to for beauty care, soothing aromatherapy, and a few traditional “keep-on-hand” uses.

While everyone’s experience can be a little different, rose oil is often talked about for its soothing, skin-supportive qualities. Most of us wouldn’t think about reaching into a first-aid kit for rose oil, but when properly diluted, some people like to use it for minor skin concerns like small scratches or dry patches. It can also feel especially comforting when massaged into areas that feel tense or tired.

Rose oil is also a beautiful addition to your regular beauty routine. It’s often included in skincare for its balancing feel, especially in routines for blemish-prone skin. Some people love it as a finishing touch for hair, too, smoothing flyaways, adding shine, and making your hair smell like a literal daydream. Bonus: it’s a favourite for cuticles and nails as well.

And then there’s the scent. Roses have always been celebrated for their gorgeous fragrance, and many people find it naturally uplifting or calming. Aromatherapy often links rose to relaxation and emotional comfort.

Note: With any essential oil, it’s always a good idea to start small and patch test first, just to make sure your skin agrees. Rose is often considered a gentler essential oil, but it’s still very concentrated, so many people prefer using it diluted in a carrier oil like jojoba or sweet almond. Diluting also helps your bottle go further and makes application feel extra luxurious. A couple of drops in a bath can be wonderful too. Just mix with a little carrier oil first so it disperses nicely.

Have a wonderful, love-filled February. 💗
