Meet Lisa and Alexa, co-founders of BC brand Good Juju—natural health veterans, eco-warriors, and creators of high-performance, plastic-free personal care. Frustrated by the lacklustre options for sustainable laundry, hair and body care, they decided to make something better—clean, effective products that look, feel, and smell amazing, all while being kind to the planet. In this interview, they share the story behind Good Juju, the moment it all became real, and what keeps them motivated every day.

We founded Good Juju as friends, moms, lovers of all things natural health, and climate nerds. Having been in the natural health industry for decades, we were leaving our past careers in 2019 and decided to start a business together. We spent a few months thinking about what type of products we would like to launch, and we considered a lot of different ideas, but the foundation always remained the same. We wanted to create something clean AND sustainable.
We were both using shampoo and conditioner bars in our routines because we wanted to reduce plastic, but we didn’t love the experience. We thought . . . we can do better than this! And so Good Juju was born. We created beautiful, high performing, hair, body and home products that perform better than what you get in the plastic bottle!
Getting from an idea to a small business is a lot of work! When did it first sink in for you that ‘this is really happening’?
It really started to sink in when we met with our manufacturer for the first time and started creating the products. It was both exciting and scary. We ended up going through countless rounds of samples over 9 months to perfect our formulas and we are super proud of how they work.
Out of all your products, which is your personal favourite and why?
Our hair care bars are definitely our faves. They work so well and there is no junk in them, just clean, naturally derived ingredients. We get overwhelmed with the reviews and feedback we receive on our bars. Women keep telling us what a significant difference they have made to their hair and scalp health.
What motivates you on a day-to-day basis?
Making a difference. To our individual customers, who are getting their hair health back, and also from a bigger picture perspective knowing that we are removing unnecessary plastic from the waste stream. Every Good Juju product is plastic bottle free! One hair care bar replaces up to 3 plastic bottles and one package of our laundry sheets replaces one plastic jug!

A little sleep in, a slow breakfast with people we love, and some reading. Perfection!
What are your personal top three tips for feeling amazing?
This is so important because running a business isn’t for the faint of heart, so we both take our wellness routines very seriously. Movement everyday is non-negotiable. Water, water, and more water! And supplements to support what is lacking and support our lifestyles. Connection is a fourth one that is equally as important.
